Welcome to Torsey Shores Road Blog

Hello All-
I know our Road Association President is working on a web page for our road, but as things change and progress, I thought I would post pictures to keep those who don't live here year round up to date on what is being done and how things look on the road.
In the past couple of months there has been a lot of maintenance/ditch/culvert work done. It started at the end of August with ditch maintenance - the sides of the road were cleared of weeds and saplings and the ditches were cleared out (thanks to Gail, Sandy and Jake for collecting trash from the sides of the road) - in some places up to 6' off the road side. I got a couple of shots of the new and cleaned up road:

Right after the work was done by our contractor, CMP crews came through and limbed and cut back trees that they considered a danger to the power lines. It took them a couple of days to complete both sides of the road and they left a small mess, but at least all the lines are clear now.
Since the ditches had been cleaned out, it was now time to address the culvert issue. As of yesterday, three culverts have been worked on - the first one being the culvert across the road in front of #66. Some dirt was added (thanks to Billy Rourke who so kindly allowed us into his pit with a trailer where we picked up some rock and dirt to use on the road)and some large rocks were added around the culvert to prevent it from shifting any further.

Looks good, right?
The next task was the culvert across the bottom of #129’s driveway. That got cleaned out and then - a BIG thanks to Barry here for the loan of the tractor - the ditch was carved out from #137 back to #129 as there wasn’t a ditch there to begin with.

Once it rains and the water starts flowing and draining we will be able to fine-tune as needed.
The last culvert that was done was at the sharp corner just past #144 - the culvert had to be completely excavated - it was full of debris and had to be cleaned out and dirt had to be put at the entrance to raise the level for water flow. It was by far the worst of them, and once again we will see what happens to the water flow once the rain hits.

So, that’s all for now - at that brings everybody up to date on what is happening here - except - WOW - the colors are GORGEOUS right now!

  1. Thanks for the pictures and update on Torsey Shores. We are looking forward to the summer on Torsey and will arrive from Florida on June 1. Your snow should be gone by then and our heat and humidity will be on the increase.
